This guide illustrates how to easily add a side seam and a side seam pockets to your Favorite Pants pattern.
The original pattern is without side seam pockets. Download a free pocket shape HERE
Use a thin cotton for pocket bags.
Cut 4 x pieces.
First, cut your pattern in two along the grainline.
Add 1 cm seam allowance to each side of your cut. Add bigger seam allowance if needed.
Place the pocket 13 cm below the top edge.
With right sides together, sew a pocket layer together with the front panel. Repeat on the back panel. Sew, with 8 mm seam allowance.
Press the seam so the pocket flips open and the right side is facing out. Edgestitch to keep in place.
With right sides together, place the front and the back piece on top of each other. Sew, with 1 cm seam allowance from the top point, along the edge of the pocket and all the way to the hem.
