The Family Carrier is a sewing pattern for a reusable fabric bag for all your groceries and daily essentials, eliminating the need for single-use plastic. Available in three sizes; a mini version perfect for kids and two larger sizes to suit various needs. The carrier easily folds into a compact, portable shape for convenient storage. The PDF pattern is suitable for all skill levels, from beginner sewists to experienced crafters seeking a quick project.

Family Carrier comes in three sizes:

Mini: For kids and smaller items

Midi: Fits a laptop or gym clothes

Large: Groceries or larger garments

Finished measurements excl. handle (in centimeters)

Mini: Height — 24, Width 20

Midi: Height — 37,5, Width 27

Large: Height — 37,5, Width 37

Fabric needed:

Mini: 0,31m

Midi: 0,41m

Large: 0,51

Add 5% for shrinkage

This pattern works well with most fabrics. A Carrier made from a classic poplin is perfect for lighter items like gym clothes, as it folds easily into a small square that can be tucked into another bag for convenience. For heavier loads, such as groceries, we recommend using a sturdier cotton canvas.

For a kid-friendly version, try sewing fabric scraps together or consider upcycling textiles you already have at home.

Keep in mind that your fabric choice significantly impacts the difficulty of the project.
